Dr. Erdem Özel received TAVI training in Milan, Italy, and completed certification programs for the three most commonly used aortic valves, earning the title of practitioner in this field. He has been actively involved in pioneering teams and projects in Turkey and has performed this procedure on numerous patients.
In addition to numerous interventional procedures, Prof. Dr. Erdem Özel has been involved in cardiac rehabilitation for the past five years. In 2020, he completed the cardiac rehabilitation programs of the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR), one of the world’s leading organizations in this field, and obtained certification.
In 2021, Dr. Özel was accepted as a visiting professor at the Inselspital Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic, one of the world’s leading centers for cardiac prevention, rehabilitation, and sports cardiology, affiliated with the University of Bern in Switzerland. During this time, he worked alongside Prof. Dr. Matthias Wilhelm on cardiac rehabilitation research.
Dr. Özel has published numerous scientific articles and in 2020, he pioneered the creation of an expert document containing recommendations for pre-exercise advice for athletes with heart disease or heart pacemakers, which was a first in Turkey. He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, Turkish Society of Cardiology, and Turkish Society of Cardiology’s Sports Cardiology working group.
Prof. Dr. Erdem Özel has been working in his own private clinic since 2021 and performing interventional cardiology procedures in contracted private hospitals.
Prof. Dr. Erdem Özel embraces the motto “Protect Your Heart,” is fluent in English, and is married and has one child.
